Bill Kennedy's work is included in museum, institutional, corporate, and private collections here and abroad. Grants supporting the work include the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities (2), and numerous academic research grants that funded his interest in historical printing processes, alternative processes, and digital printing.

Bill is Professor Emeritus of Photography and Media Arts at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. He has taught workshops and made presentations for the Maine Media Workshops, the Santa Fe Workshops, the California Arts Institute, Anderson Ranch, the Royal Photographic Society of Scotland, the Society for Photographic Education (SPE), the National Press Photographer's Association (NPPA), and the American Society for Media Photographers (ASMP), among others. He is a founding member of the Austin Photographic Cooperative and the Texas Photographic Society (TPS). In 1995, Bill was honored with the first Star of Texas Award for "contributions to photography education in Texas" from the Association of Texas Photography Instructors (ATPI).
